Can Whiteboard be used on a member's only web site?

Members have already logged onto our web site and a 'sessions' started. Is it difficult to modify Whiteboard so their login details are carried into Whiteboard? This means no registering and no login for the Whiteboard page.

Our members are considering a discussion page. I am interested to see if Whiteboard can fill our needs. The program looks very good. Thanks.

There is currently no way to have WhiteBoard use a different users database table. You could however write a custom script that will make it so that when users register on your site it automatically creates a forum account. If you want to bypass the log in, you would have to modify the whiteboard code a little to do so. Since you already have users on your site, I assume you are storing their passwords in an encrypted way. For you to create accounts for those users on WhiteBoard, you would have to require all the users currently on your site to change their password so that you can build them user accounts on WhiteBoard.

Thanks for the tips.

One question involving security. I keep ALL my programs that contain passwords in the directory BELOW the public pages. This stops any hacker accessing my mySql passwords. So I need to store config.php in the directory below the Root. How do I address the location of config.php in the super.php line #40?

I found the following solution which seems to work:
require_once($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/../config.php'); in place of require_once(ROOT_PATH."config.php");

I worked around the init.php file (to avoid returning for install) but have difficulty working around the login which keeps sending me back to login (after the config file is moved).

I installed 'Whiteboard' onto our web site. It was very easy.

Thank you.

The init file checks if the config file exists so that it can redirect to the installer. The super class actually loads in the config file. You will need to modify both of these locations.

Thank you for the hints in your replies. The forum does work on a members only site.

Do you have any 'beta' script that adds polls to the forum or have you any plans to add 'polls' to the forum?

Thanks for this fine software which is a simple-to-use & succinct.
